Cover Dog Search

Let us paws to reflect: it was Feb 18, 2012, and the scene at La Encantada was fur-real. Some 430 plus dogs and their human companions showed up to strut their stuff to earn a place on the Tucson Lifestyle's cover. This years annual event, a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA), brought out a mix of rescues, show dogs and everything in between. Entry fees and a mock cover purchases brought in more than

$10, 000 for (HSSA)​

Judges included Kristi Tedesco (KVOA News Anchor), Heather Rowe (KOLD News 13 Anchor), Gina Trunzo (Fox 11 Tucson Daybreak Anchor) Mrs. Grant (The Bobby Rich Morning Mix, Mixfm) and Tucson Lifestyles Executive Editor Scott Barker.

The winner of the search, Lails, is a golden retriever mix that was rescued off the street about three years ago by Maria Altermus and her brother. MIkey was shown as one of the top 40 dogs out of 430 entrees and is featured in the lower left hand corner of page 54 of the May 2012 issue.
